Founded in 2020 by musicians from Turkey, Latvia, Germany, and Spain, the Velvet Quartet began under the guidance of Prof. Andreas Reiner. The ensemble further honed its artistry with mentors including Günther Pichler, Eberhard Feltz, Jonathan Brown, and Cuarteto Quiroga, as well as members of the Artemis, Belcea, and Modigliani Quartets. Recognition includes 1st Prizes at the 2024 Gianni Bergamo Classic Music Award and Köhler-Osbahr Competition, and performance at the Philharmonie de Paris Biennale. Supported by the Dörken Foundation, Le Dimore del Quartetto, and a Vibre! Bordeaux residency, they performed across Germany, broadcasted live on WDR 3, and collaborated with Aalto Theater dancers in Last. Mentored by Oliver Wille and Quatuor Ébène, their latest milestones include joining the MERITA platform and appointment as 2026?27 Britten Pears Quartet-in-Residence. Most recently, a Deutsche Orchester-Stiftung grant supported their German octet tour with the Kandinsky Quartet, featuring a new work by Helena Cánovas Parés.
